Self Leadership Training Program
Geneva’s program is based on Carl Jung’s structure of male archetypes. Archetypes have been around since ancient times in Native American, African and European culture, and sometimes correspond to mythological figures. These archetypes are not “labels” used to classify the boys we serve, but are symbolic structures of the masculine psyche or inner world that can be found in most boys and men. As the boys progress towards graduation and maturity, they pass through 5 archetypal program Steps. Click here to see the Self Leadership Training Checklist.
- The Hero Step: Represents their choice to be at Geneva. It is the beginning – immature but on the threshold of manhood.
- The Magician Step: Represents the initial period where things tend to go well and youth are motivated to work hard so that it appears things are happening magically.
- The Warrior Step: Represents how things get more difficult and requires more effort to rise to the challenges. Typically, in ancient culture a great warrior’s focus or true goal is not to make war (easy), but to make peace (more difficult).
- The Lover Step: Represents the flow of things falling into place and the beginnings of mastering new skills.
- The King Step: Represents the mastery of the skills and their preparedness to move into their own power.
